Programming Note: American Idol 9-10 PM ET Tonight

Because they royally screwed up the call-in numbers last night, FOX will be broadcasting a "new live" (Repeats of performances with new Seacrest bits) American Idol tonight.  All votes from last night will be tossed out.  Tonight's re-vote will decide who leaves in tomorrow's (9PM ET) results show.  The Life on a Stick premiere will be moved to tomorrow directly after the AI results.

No word on Point Pleasant, and it probably doesn't matter since I'm the only Point Pleasant devotee in the entire US.

Thanks for the heads up!  I wonder if the other 59,999,798 viewers will know? Too bad for them!  They should have joined DVRCHATTER.com smile

Re: Programming Note: American Idol 9-10 PM ET Tonight

WOW! I'm impressed.  Did anyone notice the i-Guide automatically went from 9:00 to 9:30 to 9:00 to 10:00 for Idol tonight?  And tomorrow at 9:00 to 10:00 is "To Be Announced".  I bet later on tonight it gets filled in with Idol.  All I can say is very cool!

Edit:  Yep it filled in.  9:00 to 9:30 is Idol and 9:30 to 10:00 is Life on a Stick.  My series recording picked it up and I'm all set.

Results show is tonight (Thurs) 9PM ET.  Last night they replayed the performances, had some new banter, and America revoted.

Mark - I saw your posting on "that other site."  My AI recorded in 2 half-hour segments last night.

Both segments were titled "American Idol" in the "MyDVR Recorded Programs" menu.  The only "bug" I saw was that the second one's description listed it as starting at 9PM, while the recording was actually the 9:30-10PM segment.

I guess this is really dependent on how "on the ball" your local Comcast is on updating their guide data.  Since Federov's family is more than likely working off the same Comcast head-end as I am, I'm guessing the local Comcast folks were especially interested in getting it right.

This house's votes went to Ms. Underwood both nigths, by the way.  That girl has some voice.  Local, Schmokal: No way am I voting for that horrible Federov.  Too bad they took away my Cardinale.

Re: Programming Note: American Idol 9-10 PM ET Tonight

Frank - I think that IS what happened to me as well.  When I recorded the buffer is was past 10 and I recorded FOX news.  I got to see the producer explain the problem so it wasn't too bad.

I think a few of us suffer from being too proactive and if you didn't post the original post I/we would not have known but the i-Guide/6412 would have taken care of us.

And that is very cool!

I'm not looking for anymore F' ups for Idol or any other show I have set up as a Series Recording but it gives me a nice level of confidence that the 6412 will record it.

Now, with 60 million viewers it certainly was in everyones (Comcast, Fox, TV Guide) interest to get the guide data correct.  I have to wonder about some show that doesn't have that viewership number.  Will they update the guide as quickly?

Only time will tell.  But I am very happy and impressed.

(We may not need TiVo  smile  )

Re: Programming Note: American Idol 9-10 PM ET Tonight

Don't throw away that IGuide Feature Request just yet...

As of Wed night, the IGuide was correct in that it had AI for 1/2 hour and Life on a Stick for 1/2 hour on Thursday night.  However, when American Idol started recording last night, it was listed as 1 hour.  At some point during the recording, it changed back to 1/2 hour with Life on a Stick appearing as the second half hour.  "Great," I thought, "That's the way it should work."  As I was watching the AI recording as it was still recording, we caught up almost right at 9:30.  When we got to the end of the AI recording, it did not ask us to Delete or Not Delete, but it did switch to Life on a Stick.

10 O'Clock came and the LoaS recording stopped.  At about 10:15, I realized that my scheduled recording of ER was not taking place.  I'd checked the schedule right before starting to watch the AI recording, so I know it was still scheduled as of about 9:10 PM.  Apparently the switch to 1/2 hour AI undid my scheduled recording of ER.  There was no conflict, as I had no other recording scheduled for the 10PM hour and only LoaS at 9:30.

Don't know what happened, but I sure was glad I'd scheduled a backup of ER in SD on the TiVo.
