Brighthouse Networks

I was in Orlando this weekend and was surprised to see their HD channels lineup:

NBC
ABC
CBS
FOX
UPN
WB
PBS
HBO
Showtime
INHD
INHD2
HDNet
HDNet Movies
TNT HD
ESPN HD
Discovery HD

Why can't Comca$t get their act together?

Re: Brighthouse Networks

I think our Comcast (Nashville, TN area) has a pretty good offering.  We get the following in HD:

NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Starz, INHD, INHD2, ESPN, Discovery.

I sure would like HDNet, and TNT would be OK.  I couldn't care less about WB or UPN.  There's another channel (183) that currently shows as "To be announced" but I don't know what that will be.  I've heard rumors that it will be PBS.

Re: Brighthouse Networks

Many limitations are due to available bandwidth. Some older systems just don't have enough room to offer many HD channels. You can only fit about 2 HD and 1 highly compressed SD in one analog space. You can get 8-12 SD in one analog space.

Re: Brighthouse Networks

that's the same as mine, minus the fox, WB, UPN and TNT. I'm jealous.

But I also get starz and cinemax which it looks like they don't. Of course I have to pay for it though.

I'd like to get UniversalHD (for Battlestar Galactica, mainly).  Having never seen HDNet, I don't know what I'm missing.  I'm very tempted to get the Voom $1 install deal and see how their HD content is.

Re: Brighthouse Networks

Here in Los Angeles we get

WB, CBS, ABC NBC, FOX, Discovery, INHD, INHD2, ESPNHD, HBO, SHOW, STARZ, MAX

I'm very happy with Comcast's offering. We don't get UPN but LA's UPN affiliate doesn't broadcast anything in HD anyway.
