I made a few changes to the Wikipedia entry. I added info on the different Phases, green flashes, and 12/31/89 recordings. I also created a 3412 entry, but it's not word wrapped for some reason. I also added a few redirect pages for common variations in the model number (DCT-6412, DCT6412, etc..)

With the Wikipedia entry getting as unwieldy as the AVS Forum thread, I decided to create a Wikibook and initially start it with information from the Wikipedia entry. A Wikibook, like Wikipedia, can be edited by anybody. What is nice is it is designed to have pages and similar linked together, so you can spread things out.

Alternative to Comcasts DVR?
Is there any alternative to having Comcasts DVR, I would like to purchase a personal one or build on with an old computer sitting around.
Any assistance would be appreciated

You could always buy a TIVO....
As far as building one, do a Google search for 'HTPC' or 'Home Theater PC'.
