Thought CH1 might be starting today...
All stations displayed "Channel not available..will return shortly". Then the
guide started reloading..I thought maybe this is it. But it wasn't. Probably
has something to do with the plethora of Comcast trucks all over the neightborhood
every day. But I didn't think that a cable outage would cause a reload of the guide
when the outage is over. If that's the case, this is probably the first of many outages
til they get it going. They DID say in a mailer that they would try to limit the outages
to before 5pm..so that's ok if they stick to it.

While they were upgrading the system here in San Jose a couple of years ago, sporadic outages occurred for about 2 months. Some lasted just a few minutes, others over 12 hours. The outages extended way past 5 PM sometimes. Any time I called to complain about outages after 5 PM, they just said "we're upgrading the system in your area, there's nothing we can do".
Maybe you'll be luckier. The good news is that since they finished, the system has been very reliable. I can't remember the last time there was an outage.

Well it was probably the longest guide reload I remember. It finally seemed to catchup last night sometime.

The IGUIDE.. the menu..the listing of programs that are scheduled. Often refered to as "the guide". If you have to recycle your DVR, the guide gets wiped out and re-downloads. It takes a while to finish the download.
