Free Digital upgrade

My boss got an offer from comcast to upgrade to digital, they will
'send' the box to his home and the box rental is free for one year.
DVR not included of course. I guess they are pushing to get everyone
digitized.

I got one of those (DCT700) in Seattle.  No HD channels, only composite or RF out, but all the premiums other than HD are included.  Someone has suggested that they have a vast supply of these boxes that will be useless unless they're deployed before July.

(Mine wasn't a digital upgrade, but just an additional digital box -- up to two free for a year.)

Will they charge extra for extra channels, or will he only get the same channels. In the city of Chicago, they are dropping analog Expanded basic. They are offering free digital boxes, but only ONE, and only for the same level of service.
