The other said "Get a DVR for free for a year". I called Comcast to see if I could get my DVR for free. They said the offer was for Standard Definition DVRs only. In Seattle we just have the 34xx, and SD users pay the same price as HD (although I assume they can watch the HD channels at lower res). Offline #3 06-08-2007 2:20:39 PMRe: Free DVR in San Jose, CA (Don't get excited.)I also wasn't sure about a non-HD DVR, so I called again - wouldn't be the first time I got incorrect info from someone at Comcast. 2nd person I talked to said they had just introduced an SD DVR in April, that it's the the same as the HD DVR, including dual tuner, except no HD capability. It will cost $6.99/mo after the 1 year free. That's actually the same as the HD DVR if you figure the $11.99 for it includes HD service, which costs $5/mo if you don't have the HD DVR. In Seattle they provide a rate card indicating $11.95 for either SD or HD DVR, and it's the 34xx in either case. I have a friend without HD who has a 3416, so I'm sure he'd love to pay less (especially if it's free) when they get around to our area. Offline |
