Comcast Phone Service anyone ?

Anyone using Comcast phone service ? Wondering what you think.
I have used up my 1 year of 1/2 for Comcast internet service.
So far, I haven't talked to a rep (I went thru 2 levels) who will  give
me a cut-rate again. But if I add Comcast phone, the total, which
will include the next tier of tv service (encore channels, military, bio, etc), the
price will be about the same I'm paying with my prior discounted internet
rate + plus my current ATT phone.  So  basically, if I add Commy phone,
my total monthly price for cable TV, internet and phone will be close to
what I'm paying in total now.  Plus, the Commy phone service is unlimited
long distance (though we use cell phones for long distance to get around a long
dist. charges).

So it's maybe do that for now....or drop Commy all together.

Re: Comcast Phone Service anyone ?

I like that my phone service from Verizon always works unlike my internet access. And I don't know if they've solved the 911 caller ID problem. My 87 year old mother lives with us and I need the phone to 1: work and 2: ID our address for 911.

Re: Comcast Phone Service anyone ?

I'll add my two cents, as this is my first post here!

I just wanted to tell you that my wife and I have been using the Comcast Triple Play (phone, internet, digital cable) since February with what sounds like the same deal you are referring too.  As far as the quality of the phone goes, I have not noticed any drastic differences between the Comcast Digital Voice and a regular land line form a phone company.  In our old apartment we did not have a land line but we decided to pick up the digital voicein the new apartment with the digital cable package seeing as it would cost us roughly the same amount we were paying for basic cable and internet.  We also signed a contract saying that we can be charged the same deal rate for an extra year, but in retrospect maybe that wasn't the smartest way to go.

I like the convenience of having the home phone, as I don't have to worry about finding my cell phone and it adds another line of communication in case of emergency.

I'm paying a rental fee of $3 for the modem that is needed for it (it is a different modem than for your internet), but when I'm paying over $100 anyway I'm not too concerned about it.  My last bill had me paying $108.58 for the entire package, although with the addition of DVR service and a sports package, I know it will be slightly more expensive next month.
