Up until a month ago it's been pretty decent, a few of the "100% full" messages when it was nowhere near that, but otherwise pretty good. Then this nonsense started happening, and it's SO aggravating ! Offline #2 10-20-2007 11:09:16 AMRe: Recordings constantly freezing on playbackIn my mind, you'd have different problems if it was a hard drive issue. Offline #4 10-20-2007 11:40:22 AMRe: Recordings constantly freezing on playbackWhen I had a 6412, I had a USB powered laptop cooler sitting upside down on top of the DVR (the fans you see in the image were against the top of the box) to draw the heat out. Of course, you'll need somewhere for the heat to go or you'll just get a convection oven effect. Offline #5 10-20-2007 11:48:32 AMRe: Recordings constantly freezing on playbackBut if the splitter was bad, wouldn't my cable internet and the tv in the back bedroom also be affected ?? I'll try it anyway.. why not? There's only ONE cable coming into my condo.. so to get cable tv in the back bedroom, there used to be a LOOOOOOOOOOONG cable run under the carpet to the back bedroom. When the carpet was replaced last January, that cable was taken out and the cable re-routed a bit so now instead of a 60 foot cable, it's about 25. Anyway, my reception and my internet are fine. You can have digital data errors all day long caused by a splitter and never see a sign of it on an analog TV. Totally different technology. Cable internet runs at an entirely different frequency all together than the digital TV.
I can't take credit for it. Someone here (Wareagle I think?) mentioned it once or twice before I tried it. Offline |
