DCH3416 ?
Local Comcast here in Mountain View, CA is now carrying the DCH3416. The front panel is different than the previous 3416 ( http://broadband.motorola.com/catalog/p … iption.pdf ).
Does anyone know id the firmware is different or if there are any new features in this model?

I think the main difference is that the internal scrambling security is scrapped in favor of cablecard slots to comply with FCC regulations. And the DCH series are MoCA compliant (networking over coax makes multi-room viewing possible).

I have one. If I can answer any questions, I'll try. If it helps I'll post the firmware version when I get home tonight. If I recall, it still uses the DCT firmware. Here is an image of the rear panel label...

The DCH's use 18.xx firmware (somebody posted an update to 18.34 in the Wikibook). The DCT's are on 16.xx (16.42 the latest it appears.)

I assume updates are pushed to the unit. Is there a way to get a forced push? Do I have to tap my foot in the restroom at the Comcast office to get an update?

You can force a reload of the currently available firmware/software, but the version available to you is limited by what your local head end offers. Firmware and software are often tied, and usually updated at the same time. Newer firmware may not work well with older software.

Overall, we are happy with what we have. I sure would like to have the 'Saved Search' feature though. With our old DirecTV R15 we used the saved search frequently.

Odds are they will slowly roll it out nationwide over the next month or so. It's a bit unusual that we got it first here in Chicago. Usually, we are one of the last. Maybe it was because Chicago (so far just the city itself) is one of the first major cities to drop all but local basic analogs.
