And, since I started shaving my head as well as my face, I go through a lot of razor blades. My current blade of choice is the Gillette Fusion. I find that I can be a lot more free-wheeling with the razor and still get a close shave. I used to have to try and knock it down with an electric razor before using a blade, but with the Fusion I can cut out the electric step. I refuse to buy into the whole "Power" trend though, so I save a little money by buying the non-powered Fusion blades. They're still wildly expensive.
Dab (don't rub) if you're going to use a towel. Offline #2 11-13-2007 9:43:53 AMRe: TIP: Dry Razor Blades Last LongerHmmm. What if you let the blade end sit in a small amout of alcohol? Offline #3 11-13-2007 10:33:30 AM
Re: TIP: Dry Razor Blades Last LongerI've had great luck buying razors from this site: http://www.greatrazors.com/ Offline #4 11-13-2007 11:28:38 AMRe: TIP: Dry Razor Blades Last Longer
Probably great for the metal and not so great for the "comfort strips" and other portions of the cartridge. Offline #5 11-13-2007 11:35:38 AMRe: TIP: Dry Razor Blades Last Longer
They've got my Fusion 4 pack for $18.50 shipped, while I can just stop into Walgreen's and get them for $12.99. Not a good option for me. Offline #6 11-13-2007 11:40:23 AM
Re: TIP: Dry Razor Blades Last LongerUnless you're willing to take a chance on their guaranteed longer blade life, this site isn't a good option for anyone. You obviously pay a bit more for the added service they provide beyond just selling blades. Offline #8 11-13-2007 1:03:33 PMRe: TIP: Dry Razor Blades Last Longer
I never thought they did much anyway. Offline #9 11-13-2007 1:04:17 PM
Re: TIP: Dry Razor Blades Last LongerI used to have to change blades every four or five face shaves, and now, I can go upwards of 12-15 shaves per blade, which is a huge savings for me. Obviously, YMMV, but it was worth it for me to give it a shot, so I've recommended it to anyone who might want to at least consider a cheaper option, even if it means risking $5 extra bucks on a set. If you do end up giving these a try, do let me know what you think. Offline #10 11-13-2007 1:33:05 PMRe: TIP: Dry Razor Blades Last Longer
Well a portion of the cartridge does hold it onto the handle, which is a pretty useful function. Offline #11 11-13-2007 2:45:56 PMRe: TIP: Dry Razor Blades Last LongerI guess I was thinking of that little strip of stuff that's right next to the blades. It's supposed to help lubricate (he he, he said lubricate) your beard. I attached a new blade on the day of this post, and have been using the same blade since without incident. That's almost 3 weeks (I shave my face AND my head twice a week). Previously, if I used a blade longer than a week, it would start to take chunks out of my head and face. Offline |
