OnDemand forcing a power cycleOver the past two weeks, I've twice had to power cycle my 6412 after trying to view On Demand content. Both times, I hit the OnDemand button, which brings up a black screen that says Please Wait, and a moment later I can hear the audio from the advertising that plays while you're scrolling through the menus. However, I never get a picture, but instead Please Wait continues to show, until I get the message about there being a problem (I can't remember the exact text) including Comcast's local phone number. At this point, it doesn't kick me out of OnDemand, but instead hangs on the Please Wait screen, and no buttons will allow me to exit at this point. So, I am forced to power cycle my 6412 to get back to live TV, which is obviously frustrating. Has anyone experienced this before? Offline #3 09-08-2006 9:26:47 AM
Re: OnDemand forcing a power cycleNo, I actually have to unplug the box. I should have been more specific. The power button doesn't do anything when hanging on the Please Wait screen. Offline #5 09-08-2006 9:56:10 AM
Re: OnDemand forcing a power cycleThe communication error is what I'm receiving, but instead of timing out and kicking me out of OnDemand, it seems to continuously try to reconnect. Both times, I let it be for at least 5 minutes. Offline #6 09-08-2006 5:06:39 PMRe: OnDemand forcing a power cycleYou can try unplugging the RF cable for a bit. Once it totally loses contact, it will then cancel out. Sony KV-30XBR910, Sony STR-DB930, Sony DVP-NS55P, JVC HR-S3800U, Motorola DCT-6412, Sony KV-13FS100, OneForAll URC-8910. I've seen that in my lab a time or two and I've never been able to "fix" it without either removing the input or removing the power, which is the total of what's been said already. In both of my cases, reloading the firmware fixed it. (I had this prob once on a 5k as well) Comcast VOD Emperor http://comcast.m0.net/m/p/com/mic/index.asp Offline |
