Our DVR box (3412) shows a black screen when you turn it on. The only way I have found to get the live TV stations to come up is to go into the DVR menu, select a saved program, play it, exit out of it, and then exit out of the menu. If I do this, I can then watch live TV?

Had a similar problem a while ago with the 6412 we used to have.

I thought I read out on the net that this was a known software issue but can't find any record of where I read that. I checked with Comcast and they don't seem to know what I am talking about (shocker!).

Anyone know of this issue???

This happens sometimes when you put the box into standby, otherwise known as pressing the power button to shut it off. The best thing to do to is to never turn the box off. that corrects it every time.

Long-known bug caused by turning it off and on. The only real fix is to unplug it for a minute. It'll take a day or so for the guide to fully reload. The only way to avoid it is to never turn it off.
