black sidebars

How can I eliminate the sidebars?
I have the settings at 16:9 but no luck.
I'm probably not giving enough info to help you solve, what else do I need to tell you?

Are you watching SD channels?  Not all channels and not all programs are HD.  There are ways to stretch the sidebars for SD.  Let us know the rest of the story.......
