Comcast DVR Remote-"A"/Lock button not working
Tried all the reset/remap codes I could find.None seem to work.I can't delete any recordings.
Who says you don't need this button?(Iread that somewhere in my travels.)
Anyone have any ideas? I have the silver remote with "OnDemand" and PIP buttons.

Just trying to reset remote to factory settings so that "A" button works properly and I can delete programs from Motorola 6412.Have to press"A" button to delete/erase recordings.And now I have somehow disabled the"C" button as well.LOL
Any help is appreciated.

Tried both suggestions...wiki page info and cjhengineering info...all seems OK until I need to use the"A" button.When I push it, remote lights, unit blinks that it received signal...and then nothing. Guess I just need to toss the remote and use another one.

Well...how do I delete a recording then? Because when I go to erase a recorded program it asks me if I want to "stop and erase"or if i highlight erase it asks me "are you sure..." .I have to press "A" to answer yes and erase in both cases.
Do you know another way to erase other than just let the drive fill up and knock out the longest residing recording?
Maybe I am missing something obvious.

Not sure about "I guide".
The unit specifically comes up with "A" button...you cannot highlight and "select" or "OK"...
Appreciate the suggestions, though.
Have other remotes, just hate to trash one because ONE button doesn't seem to work the right way.Waste not want not and all that...starving kids in Asia...LOL

What city do you live in? That might give us a clue as to your guide software.
What is the exact sequence you go through to get to the point where you're being directed to use the "A" button?

I'm about as lost as you, Frank. In the second posting, it was claimed that it was a 6412, and the original thread title is "Comcast DVR Remote-"A"/Lock button not working" -- so it seems to be a Comcast 6412 in an unknown location that somehow has mystery guide s/w that uses the "A" button to delete programs. I know for a fact that the Microsoft version doesn't, and I doubt that the iGuide does.

The unit is a Moto 6412.Software is (I think)...pioneer passport echo...I am now in the Bahamas, but also used same sequence while in Florida using Brighthouse DVR.Same software, I suppose.
Different remote but still used"A" button.
Sequence to problem:highlight recorded program..highlight erase...menu asks if you are sure you want to erase...choices are "A"= erase and "C"= don't erase...
No way to highlight choices...have to use either "A" or "C" button.
Oh well...I guess you folks have alternate menus.

Does it allow you to use the arrow keys to highlight something on screen, then OK/Select to activate it?
Most users here have either the iGuide or Microsoft Software. Passport is somewhat rare. With iGuide, you are either offered a chance to delete when you hit the end of the program, or the info screen has a row of icons you scroll to and hit OK/Select to activate.

There's a link to Passport Echo guide info from the Wiki "how to" site (see Andy's sig). I see the A/B/C buttons on the page here. It seems like a perverted use of those buttons. Mine do just what they're supposed to, with the Microsoft guide. I thought Passport was a guide that was primarily available on Cox systems, so you might try some of their forum sites.

Ya know, I just looked at the PDF manual for the Passport Echo guide and it shows a few things that you do with A, B, and C. Strange use of those buttons with Passport.

And, not to let it go, I just found this PDF that shows a silver remote that looks different than the one most of us have. Take a look at page 7.
