there is a delay on the TV with the cable box. With all four TVs - only one has the OnDemand Comcast box and it is always a few seconds behind the others. Just another silly question from someone trying to learn a few basics....

Thanks for the patience with my ignorance..everyone else seems to post much more technical information that I don't even know what is being talked about...one day maybe????

If the box is a DVR, then everything is written to the disk first, then read back for processing and display on the TV. Be happy if the audio and video are in sync, because nothing else matters.

That's probably why if you switch back/forth from an HD channel and analog or digital, there is a difference too. Not that of the reason why til now...it makes sense I guess since it's writing more with an HD signal.

Yes, it is a DVR box and the audio and video are in sync. Just if I move from room to room - I hear it repeating a few seconds later. Thanks for that clear explanation!

Also, 'real' analog or digital simulcast could be different. I've noticed that the analog feed direct to the TV for some channels is actually behind the digital simulcast buffered by the DVR!!
