Just the same ol' thing happening

So I decide to change channels. Punch in  a few numbers, the desired
channel numbers appear on the box display, so I know it got the commands.
The channel doesn't change. I wait a few seconds. Nothing.  Desired channel
number still shows on the box display. All of a sudden...bam...the box shuts
off. TV screen goes black as one would expect. About 30 seconds later the box
restarts and goes into download.
