ATT U-verse ?

Wasn't sure where to put this, but has anyone looked into AT&T U-verse for TV ?
It uses IP somehow it seems.  Might be another option (i.e. for Comcast).
Of  course, Pittsburg, Calfornia won't see it for ages I'm guessing.

Re: ATT U-verse ?

I just vaguely recall reading that you can only receive one HD channel at a time with it.

Yes, that is the case.  They are supposed to fix that a little later this year.  It is not available in my town either, Ghoofie, but it is becoming available in Santa Rosa as we speak.  I wouldn't even consider it until I can get at least 2 HD channels at each receiver location.  Yes, there will only be 2 channels available, total.  What happens if you have 2 HDTVs, one with a 2 tuner DVR?  They've got a ways to go for me to consider it at all.

Re: ATT U-verse ?

U-Verse recently became available in some areas around Chicago. As other mentioned, it is limited to one HD feed per household. Even their Internet is limited to 6/1.

The problem is that AT&T is taking the cheap way and only running Fiber To The Node (FTTN). That means plain old copper wiring from the nearby box to your house. Verizon FIOS is Fiber To The Home (FTTH) and runs fiber direct to you.

There were alot of fights here in Illinois last year as some times objected to all of the large boxes they have to place for the nodes. They are typically near major phone line junctions.
