If you look out your window for about two minutes starting at 7:59 PM your local time tonight, you'll get a quick and easy sampling of who the biggest idiots, hippies and wackos in your neighborhood are.  If their lights go out at 8PM and stay off for an hour, they're participating in Earth Hour.

Apparently, Earth Hour will somehow stop the sun from heating up the oceans and causing increased CO₂ emissions.  I'm not sure exactly how it works, but it's like giving a mental patient something shiny to play with: If it makes them happy why not let them have it?

Who am I to argue.  It seems last year's Earth Hour worked, because this winter was the coldest since 2001, they're getting snow at the end of March in the Pacific Northwest, and Antartic ice levels are at highs not seen since the 1970s.

Prediction: In 2013, wackos will be urging us to turn on our lights for an extra hour on March 31 to heat things back up.  That won't do a damn thing, either.
