I sent an email yesterday to Comcast asking them to pick up Voom HD programming.

Dish is beating everybody in sheer number of HD channels right now because they carry about 15 Voom HD channels.

I encourage everyone else to do the same!

I had Voom for awhile before it folded. Those Voom exclusive channels are worthless in my opinion. Except for an occasional movie on MonstersHD I never watched them.
I'd rather see ESPN2 HD, FOOD Channel HD, HD NET, and HGTV HD. But I'd take anything since it has been awhile since any new HD channel has been added by Comcast.

Comcast is committed to deploying HDTV service. We are working to provide as many high definition channel broadcasters as possible. Here are some of the factors involved with expanding our high definition lineup:

-the negotiation and contract process required to obtain the rights to carry a specific high definition broadcast.

-the increased bandwidth resources which are required

-the relatively low number of subscribers (currently only a small minority of customers have high definition compatible television sets)

We will continue to explore additional HD programming opportunities as more content providers make plans to offer their programming in HD format.

We appreciate the fact that you took the time to let us know what is important to you. We hope to expand our high definition channel lineup as fast as we can. Unfortunately we are unable to provide specific details regarding the launch of new channels at this time, please keep an eye on your monthly billing statement as the announcement of any channel additions will appear on those statements.

Since the last post, I have gotten ESPN2HD, TNTHD and UniversalHD added to my list, plus 2 extra channels from my local PBS station (WHYY) in HD. I would still like to see HDnet, though.

I would also like to see HDNet....
We've had TNT for a while, got ESPN2HD in June. Don't have UniversalHD - temporarily had it during Olympics - still don't have a local PBS or WB/??

I'd expect the Philadelphia area to get local PBS (WHYY) in HD on Comcast before other markets. Voom HD is like 15 channels? I do like HDNet but I've got nearly 15 channels in HD right now without any of their programming.

I hesitate to say Dish is "winning" the race in HD since they are seemingly failing to deliver in so many other areas. It's a matter of perspective, I suppose.
