If you have an HD set you're gonna want to use the HDMI or Component cable to connect your 3412 to your set. Again I want to connect a VCR and a DVD player to DVR and TV. This is what I have so far: Offline #5 08-21-2006 12:49:40 AMRe: Connect DCT-3412 to TV and VCR and DVD playerYou're the only one who knows what connectors your equipment has, so unless you're willing to share that info you'll just have to read the Wiki and figure it out for yourself. Run a cable from your DVD player player composite outputs to your VCR composite input. To watch the DVD player on your TV change your channel on the VCR from 3/4 to "Local Input" sometimes this is channel 0. Offline #7 08-21-2006 9:56:51 AMRe: Connect DCT-3412 to TV and VCR and DVD player
What about Macrovision? Offline #9 08-21-2006 10:49:06 AMRe: Connect DCT-3412 to TV and VCR and DVD playerWhat I meant was: Won't the Macrovision encoding on the DVDs cause them to be unviewable if he connects the DVD player to the TV through the VCR? The purpose of Macrovision is to prevent people from recording DVDs onto VCR tapes. Offline #10 08-21-2006 11:45:04 AMRe: Connect DCT-3412 to TV and VCR and DVD playerThere is a link at the bottom of the referenced Wiki page to a document with suggestions from Comcast as to how to connect various elements => http://www.comcast.com/diagrams/ Offline #11 08-21-2006 11:48:36 AM
Re: Connect DCT-3412 to TV and VCR and DVD player
You are exactly right about that. Offline #13 08-21-2006 12:37:00 PMRe: Connect DCT-3412 to TV and VCR and DVD playerIf you want to have multiple devices connected to a TV, your best bet is to have a TV which accepts the number of connections you wish to make. Otherwise, you're going to need some kind of switching device. Offline #14 08-22-2006 6:16:37 AMRe: Connect DCT-3412 to TV and VCR and DVD playerIf the tv lacks inputs, head over to your favorite Walmart and buy an RF Adapter. Plug all your inputs in the adapter and then run the RF cable into your tv. You're joking, right? Dar was probably assuming he wants the first one he buys to work for more than a week. Offline #19 08-22-2006 12:43:09 PMRe: Connect DCT-3412 to TV and VCR and DVD playerChances are he's staring at his Entertainment Center, scratching his head, and wondering why he bought a bunch of equipment he can't take full advantage of. Offline #20 08-22-2006 1:56:24 PMRe: Connect DCT-3412 to TV and VCR and DVD playerOne of the few reasons why I haven't upgraded to HD yet is because I haven't been forced to buy a new TV yet since mine has plenty of inputs.
